Summer School: Aging well together in Liège 17-23 Sept. 2023

 

— Aging well together in Liège gave us the opportunity to have an international meeting to think about the future of aging well research with a multidisciplinary approach.

Host institution: ULiège (Belgium). 

Guest institutions: the University of Oulu (Finland), RUB (Germany), Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam (The Netherlands), the University of Deusto (Spain), and some independent researchers and lecturers from South Africa and the United Kingdom. 

European network: UNIC (the European University of Post-Industrial Cities). An alliance of ten universities that educate for inclusive societies through teaching, research and community engagement.

During the closing event (22 September), we had the final task of working in teams to think about future research questions related to aging well in Europe.

Our team reflected on the topic "Memory and aging well", proposed by Prof. Dr. Stefan Berger (RUB, Germany). The idea was to link the post-industrial past of Liège with the constraints of daily life in the neighborhoods of older people.

After conducting 6 walking interviews with 6 elderly representatives of Liège, some interesting ideas came to our minds:
